ntSynt-viz manuscript published: visualizing synteny across multiple genomes

We are excited to announce the publication of our manuscript, ntSynt-viz: Visualizing synteny patterns across multiple genomes, in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology.

ntSynt-viz is a streamlined tool for automated sorting, normalization, and visualization of multi-genome synteny blocks. It generates intuitive chromosome-painting ribbon plots that help researchers explore conserved genome structure and large-scale rearrangements across many genome assemblies.

We demonstrate ntSynt-viz using 14 human genomes and 9 hoverfly genomes, and show that it can also visualize synteny patterns encoded in pangenome graphs using a graph built from 16 Drosophila genomes. By making complex multi-genome comparisons easier to interpret, ntSynt-viz supports research into genome evolution, structural variation, and comparative genomics.
